Individual & Group Therapy

Jordan has over five years of experience in treating the most acute presentations of eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake disorder (ARFID) and subsequently disordered patterns of eating, complicated relationships with food, low self esteem and body image, body dysmorphia, as well as the comorbidities that accompany such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and mood disorders. She is experienced in all levels of care including Residential/Inpatient, Partial Hospital Programming, Intensive Outpatient programming and outpatient care and is familiar with the step down or transitional process between levels of care and reintegration into day to day living. She approaches disordered eating from a lens of genuine empathy, non-judgement, first and foremost as she works to better understand the individual's needs and presentation. Therapy is seen as collaborative and not a "one size fits all" approach. Through rapport building and individualized treatment planning, she works to help the client understand and debunk root causes of emotional distress and disordered eating, as well as what she would consider to be side effects including isolation, relational difficulties, and poor self image and unkind internal dialogue to name a select few.

Jordan is highly trained in CPT, or Cognitive Processing Therapy after spending several years organizing, structuring, and facilitating a trauma focused group in an eating disorders setting both residential and PHP/IOP. Exploring and processing trauma can feel like opening up Pandora's box; exploiting fearful, vulnerable, uncharted territory to a complete stranger- your therapist. Here at Three Tides, we will help clients align themselves with their somatic, physical beings in order to stay and remain aligned with a present-focused awareness as the client works to process prior traumatic experiences with the therapist's guidance and support. The therapist will work to offer empathetic and reflective listening, as well as active listening skills, as the client explores their experience. The therapist will work to guide the client to not only process trauma, but work to challenge the way in which the client views themselves, others, and the world in the aftermath of what they have individually endured. A healing process unlike others in the field of modern day psychology.

Transitional distress really speaks to the inspiration behind the Three Tides Approach. Whether it might be navigating life in the aftermath of the pandemic, relocation, career change, parenthood, separation or relationship difficulties, graduation, or perhaps life after sport. Here at Three Tides we empathize with how difficult it can be to truly embrace the change and the transition into the tide of the present moment. Utilizing mindfulness and ACT techniques, as well as active and reflective listening, we will provide support in guiding towards your own individual alignment with your life transition whichever course you may choose. We are here to meet you where you are, and walk alongside you through your transition to the next chapter you choose to write.

Anxiety speaks to the most common experience in mental health, affecting nearly 30% of all adults (American Psychological Association) over the course of their lives. Anxiety impacts a person’s well-being not just mentally, but also somatically. Excessive worry, ruminating thought processes, catastrophic or worry-based thinking speaks more to the cognitive symptomologies, while muscle tension, panic attacks, difficulty sleeping or eating speak to some of the somatic experiences. Here at Three Tides we are trained to implement an eclectic range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic therapy or Meditation to name a few. Whether you have been suffering from anxiety long term or recently, let us support you with developing the tools and the insight to be able to mitigate symptoms and regain tranquility.

Far too often we misconceive depression for sadness and vice versa. The best way we describe this differentiation to our clients is that intense sadness can be a symptom or even main symptom of depression, while sadness speaks to an emotion we all experience that is linked to a cause. I feel sad because _____. On the other hand, there may not be a clear causality to someone experiencing clinical depression. Here at Three Tides we will utilize a variety of approaches that may best suit the client including but not limited to interpersonal therapy, CBT, or psychodynamic. Our approach will always be first and foremost, person-centered. Let us support you in alleviating your depression symptoms and improving overall quality of life.
